An Indian YouTuber has landed in serious trouble in Turkey after posting videos with offensive and sexually explicit comments about Turkish women. The content sparked widespread anger on Turkish social media, leading to calls for action. Reports from local media suggest that Turkish authorities have detained the YouTuber, although no official confirmation has been issued yet.

The man behind the videos is Malik SD Khan, who goes by the name Malik Swashbuckler on platforms like YouTube and Instagram. His content, mostly in Hindi, included vulgar language, abusive behavior toward locals, and a rape threat aimed at his Turkish guide. As the backlash grew, Malik deleted his social media accounts, but many of his videos are still circulating online.
Who is Malik Swashbuckler?
Malik SD Khan is a travel vlogger from India. He built his online identity as "Malik Swashbuckler" and became known for posting travel videos, lifestyle clips, and interactions with locals during his international trips. He was active on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, where he gained a following for his bold and often provocative content.
Before the controversy in Turkey, Malik had visited several countries and often used Hindi to speak freely around people who didn’t understand the language. His approach seemed to involve entertaining his followers by making jokes and comments at the expense of locals during his travels.
What is the controversy about?
The controversy began when Malik posted a series of videos from his trip to Turkey. In one clip, he was seen walking with a woman in a market while mocking Turkish shopkeepers. He entered a local store and demanded that the Indian flag be displayed, then used foul language toward the staff.
In another video, Malik referred to a Turkish woman using degrading terms like “maal” and “item.” In the most serious incident, he asked his followers in Hindi if he should rape his guide that night. These remarks triggered outrage after Turkish users translated the videos and shared them widely on social media.

Many viewers believe Malik thought he could get away with his comments because he spoke in Hindi. But Turkish users quickly understood the intent and tone of the videos. Public pressure built up, and media outlets began covering the story.
Reports from Türkiye Today say that police detained Malik after the incident. His exact legal status is still unclear, and Turkish police have not confirmed his identity in public. Turkish law allows action against speech that violates public morality, and Malik’s videos may fall under that category.
The Indian embassy in Turkey has not made any formal statement about the case. Investigations are still ongoing. Meanwhile, Turkish citizens continue to demand stronger measures against tourists who behave in offensive or disrespectful ways. The incident has also raised questions about the responsibility of content creators abroad and the need for cultural awareness while traveling.
