Bhopal Railway Station has launched Madhya Pradesh’s first capsule-style pod hostel to offer passengers a new, comfortable resting option during their journey. The station now houses 78 capsule-shaped multi-bed pods designed for short stays.

Passengers can book these pods by showing their PNR number at the booking counter. The pods are available for rest between train journeys, especially useful for those waiting for connecting trains.

Where to find the Pod hostel?

IRCTC operates the pod hostel, which is located on the first floor of the new building towards Platform No. 6. Passengers can also order food and drinks in the pods through IRCTC’s services.

Passengers can book a pod by showing their PNR number at the booking counter. The pod hostel is operated by IRCTC and is located on the first floor of the new building near Platform No. 6. Inside the hostel, travelers can also order food and drinks through IRCTC services.

The pods are available in three categories: Family Beds (20 pods), Multi Bed Gents (40 pods), and Multi Bed Ladies (18 pods). Charges depend on the duration of the stay. For three hours, passengers pay ₹400 for a family pod and ₹200 for a gents or ladies pod. The pods can also be booked for 9, 12, 24, or 48 hours. The rates increase with time, and GST is applicable on all bookings.

Here’s how you can book a Pod

Online booking via IRCTC website:

    • Visit the IRCTC Retiring Room booking portal:   

    • Log in with your IRCTC credentials.

    • Enter your journey details, including the PNR number associated with your train ticket.

    • Select 'Bhopal' as the station and choose the desired pod category (Single AC Pod or Family Pod).​ 

    • Choose your check-in and check-out times.​ 

    • Proceed to payment to confirm your booking.

Offline booking at the station

Approach the booking counter located on the first floor of the new building towards platform number 6 at Bhopal Railway Station.

  • Provide your PNR number and journey details to the attendant.

  • Select the preferred pod category and duration of stay.

  • Make the payment to secure your pod. 

 

Pod categories and charges

  • Single AC Pods:

    • ₹200 for 3 hours​ 

    • ₹500 for 9 hours

    • ₹900 for 12 hours

    • ₹1,800 for 24 hours

  • Family Pods (accommodate up to 4 guests):

    • ₹400 for 3 hours

    • ₹900 for 9 hours

    • ₹1,500 for 12 hours

    • ₹3,000 for 24 hours

Each pod is equipped with modern amenities including high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, mobile and laptop charging points, a luggage locker, and a personal TV for entertainment. The dormitories are designed in multiple levels, so companions can book upper and lower pods to stay together. This setup adds convenience and privacy while allowing passengers to rest in a clean and controlled environment inside the station.

The capsule pod hostel is a practical solution for passengers looking for short breaks during their journey. It offers a cost-effective and comfortable alternative to waiting in public areas or outside accommodations. With this launch, Bhopal Station becomes the first in the state to adopt this modern resting facility for railway travellers.
