Much awaited Venkateswara temple Bhumi Pujan Ceremony held in J&K

The construction of the temple will also open up opportunities across sectors and it will certainly change the economy of the region.

Ground Report | New Delhi: After a long wait, the Bhumi Pujan ceremony of Sri Venkateswara Swami temple was held on Sunday at Majeen in Jammu. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha performed this ceremony along with Y V Subba Reddy, the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, and Dr. Jitendra Singh.

The temple and all its work will be managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD). Around 28 board members of TTD including legislators of Andhra Pradesh and senior IAS officers and 12 more special invitees witnessed this occasion.

The temple will be built in 18 months in two phases costing ₹ 33.22 crores

On April 1, the Jammu and Kashmir administrative council, led by Lt Governor Sinha, approved a proposal to lease land to the TTD for the construction of the temple and related infrastructure for a period of 40 years.

Following that, the TTD was allotted 62.02 acres of land in Majeen for the construction of the temple, pilgrim amenities, a Veda Patashala, a spiritual and meditation centre, an office, residential quarters, and parking. The temple is expected to be built in 18 months in two phases costing ₹ 33.22 crores. In its first phase work will commence on 17 acres out of 62 .02 acres of allotted land to the trust.

It will bring employment opportunities to the locals says LG

LG Sinha offered his gratitude to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board & Union Govt. for fulfilling the long pending wish of the people of J&K and North India for establishing the Temple, in his tweet. He also said that this construction will encourage pilgrimage tourism in the valley and tweeted "The construction of the temple will also open up opportunities across sectors and it will certainly change the economy of the region."

He further stated that in addition to the temple's primary pujaris and core supervision team, it will employ a large number of locals in administration, offering direct and indirect employment possibilities to the people of the region.

A gurukul to be built to promote Sanskrit language studies and Vedic teachings 

According to the Lt Governor, the "magnificent divine temple, when completed, will be a centre of faith as well as a spirituality destination." He stated that the TTD Board will build a gurukul to encourage Sanskrit language studies and Vedic teachings. The board has also resolved to establish healthcare centres of excellence similar to those in Andhra Pradesh.
