UPSC released its revised calendar, Prelims on October 4

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Civil Services Exam (CSE) prelims on October 4, 2020 which was scheduled for 31st may earlier. The Commission’s review meeting took the decision. UPSC today released a revised calendar for all the postponed exam and recruitment activities. It also said that the interviews for UPSC 2019 will start from July 20.

As per the new calendar, the NDA exam will be held on September 6 and the IES exam will be held on October 16 while the engineering services, and combined medical services exams will be held on August 9 and October 22. The first notification after the lockdown will be released on June 10 for IES 2020 The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages – Prelims, Mains and interview — to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS), among others. At least 796 vacancies were announced by the commission to be filled through the civil services examination 2020.

The Prelims examination was scheduled to be held on May 31. But in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic in India, it was postponed after many meetings of the commission. A decision regarding deferring of the preliminary examination was taken on May 4 by the UPSC to review the situation after the second-phase of the nationwide lockdown was announced.

Civil Service Exam is not the only exam that has been postponed this year. UPSC had postponed the release of several notifications as well including the Combined Medical Services Examination and Central Armed Police Forces Examination as well as the NDA and Naval Academy examination.
