Central government is likely to give exemption in opening the Cinema halls and gym in the third phase of Unlock (Unlock 3.0), from 1st of August. The second phase of Unlock will end on the 31st of July.  However, on the reopening of schools and metro rails, the hold may continue.  Meanwhile, preparations have begun to decide the guidelines for the third phase of unlock in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the sources, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has sent the proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs after several rounds of talks with the owners of the Cinema halls, regarding the opening of Cinema halls.

Opening of Cinema halls in Unlock 3.0

In this proposal, the opening of cinema halls with a capacity of 50% of the audience has recommended. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs wants to open the cinema halls with 25% of the audience.  Also, with the condition of social distancing, the government is thinking to permit to open the gyms. With the opening of the cinema halls and gym, the norms of social distancing will be followed strictly.

Reopening of Schools

Regarding the reopening of schools, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) began consultation with states in a meeting chaired by Secretary of School Education, Anita Karwal.

However, “the parents were not in favour of reopening the schools, they even requested that schools to reopened only after the vaccine is developed”, said by the Ministry of HRD.

Seeing the COVID-19 situation in the nation, the states might be given more authority to set their guidelines for the Unlock 3.0.
