According to ANI, after losing its moderator status, Twitter will now be considered a publisher of user content instead of a hosting platform and will be responsible for every post posted on its platform. This means that if a user's post is found to be against the law, then for this, cases and action can be taken on Twitter under sections of the IT Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Government sources said that Twitter has lost the status of the intermediary platform in India due to non-compliance with the new IT rules. Rather than being considered only one platform hosting content from multiple users, Twitter will be directly editorially responsible for posts published on its platform.
