Twitter appointed officers in India under new rules

Ground Report | New Delhi: Twitter appointed officers in India; The Central Government has informed the Delhi High Court by filing an affidavit that Twitter has appointed Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), Resident Grievance Officer (RGO), and Nodal Contact Person in compliance with the new Information Technology Rules.

The High Court had on August 10 directed the central government to file a short affidavit in response to Twitter's affidavit. To this, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said in a brief affidavit that Twitter has provided the names of three employees appointed to them.

In a petition filed in the High Court, it was alleged that Twitter was not complying with the new information technology rules. Twitter had filed an affidavit on this. On August 10, the High Court had directed the central government to file a short affidavit in response to Twitter's affidavit.

On this, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said in a short affidavit that Twitter has provided the names of the three employees appointed to them. It has also been told that his job has started on August 4, 2021. Twitter has also provided a copy of the contract as evidence.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has rubbished allegations of leaking of information to the media related to the ongoing confidential investigation into Google's Android smartphone deal. During the hearing on Friday on the petition filed in this matter, the CCI presented its arguments before the bench of Justice Rekha Palli.
