Truth of Tricolor replaced by Saffron Flag in Shivamoga

Ground Report | New Delhi: Tricolor Saffron Flag Shivamoga; After controversy erupted over the Karnataka hijab ban, a new video is doing the rounds on the internet in which a student is seen climbing a pole and hoisting a saffron flag at a college in Shivamogga.

The viral video showed that several students gathered there in support of the Hindus cheering the student who raised the saffron flag. Most of the students gathered there were only in support of him, waving saffron-coloured flags and carrying saffron-coloured stole in their hands.

The video of the incident soon went viral when Congress leader DK Shivakumar tweeted about the incident, claiming that the national flag at an educational institution in Shivamogga was replaced by a saffron flag.

Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar said, "The situation in some educational institutions in Karnataka has become so bad that in one case the national flag was replaced with a saffron flag. I think the affected institutions should be punished. It should be closed for a week to restore law and order. Online studies can continue."

When the saffron flag was hoisted, the tricolour was not flying at the flag post. College officials confirmed that the pole was empty and no one removed the tricolour. Local students said the pole was empty; So he raised the flag. The college authorities confirmed that the tricolour is hoisted and unfurled only on Independence Day and Republic Day.

The same claim was also reported by India Today with the headline - "Karnataka hijab row: student in Shimoga replaces tricolor with saffron flag | View" which was later changed to "Karnataka hijab row: student hoists saffron flag in Shimoga".
