Ground Report | New Delhi: Top 10 films of 2021; Although it is beginning to look dangerously like a tradition, the truth is that it has not been an easy year for cinema. Not much less. The industry continues to try to find the key to adapt to the situation generated by the health crisis of COVID-19 while, for its part, the public seems determined exclusively to see a certain type of proposal on the big screen.

Annette

The brothers Ron and Russell Mael formed Sparks in 1971, an American band that transits between rock, pop, and electronic music with visual elements, such as cinema, which have become indispensable in their work. In 2009 they presented their rock opera The Seduction of Igmar Bergman, a work that led them to collaborate with Sveriges Radio. 12 years after this, Sparks presents Annette, their first musical film starring Adam Driver, Marion Corillard, and Simon Helberg directed by the French legend, Léos Carax.

Pig

Pig is a 2021 American drama film written and directed by Michael Sarnoski in his directorial debut. It stars Nicolas Cage, Alex Wolff, and Adam Arkin, and follows a truffle harvester whose beloved truffle-seeking pig is stolen. It was released in theaters in the United States on July 16, 2021 by Neon. The film received critical acclaim, who praised its direction and themes, as well as Cage's performance. Cage received a Best Actor nomination at the 27th Critics' Choice Awards.

Malcolm & Marie

Malcolm & Marie stars John David Washington as Malcolm and Zendaya Coleman as Marie. With a trailer and first stills recently released and a confirmed release date, the movie is drawing all kinds of buzz.

The Dig

The film is based on a novel, also titled The Dig, written by John Preston. Many of the events and characters depicted in both the movie and the novel are inspired by real events and real people.

The Card Counter

The Card Counter is a movie that keeps your cards close to your chest. What is this slow study of a soldier-turned-gamer really about? As a film by revered writer and director Paul Schrader, it unsurprisingly centers on a lonely man who records his existence from an empty room - Oscar Isaac's enigmatic protagonist here falls into a tradition that stretches from the beleaguered pastor Ernst. Toller in the First Reform of 2017, all the way back to Travis Bickle in the Taxi Driver written by Schrader.

Nayattu

Propulsion and political, director Martin Parkkat's film started out as a police drama, but evolved into a different beast in each new act, going from a chase thriller to a survival drama, before ending as a thoughtful satire on the country.

Language Lessons

Language Lessons, a film collaboration between Natalie Morales and Mark Duplass, takes place entirely through Zoom conversations.
