On Friday, Jaipur experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4, prompting panic among residents who rushed from their homes as tremors were felt in various parts of the city.
The earthquake, as reported by the National Seismology Center, occurred at 4:09 a.m. and had a depth of 10 km.
"Earthquake of Magnitude:3.4, Occurred on 21-07-2023, 04:25:33 IST, Lat: 26.87 & Long: 75.69, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India," the National Center for Seismology (NCS) tweeted.
Earlier the earth quake of magnitude 3.1 was felt at 4.22 am at a depth of 5 kilometres.
The National Center for Seismology (NCS) tweeted that an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, on 21-07-2023 at 04:22:57 IST. The earthquake had a depth of 5 km and its coordinates were 26.67 latitude and 75.70 longitude.
Prior to this, the first quake was felt at 4.09 am at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The NCS tweeted, "An earthquake of Magnitude:4.4 occurred on 21-07-2023, at 04:09:38 IST, with its epicenter located at Lat: 26.88 & Long: 75.70, at a depth of 10 Km, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India."
After the initial quake, two more earthquakes of magnitudes 3.1 struck the capital of Rajasthan at 4:22 AM. m., followed by a magnitude 3.4 tremor at 4:25 a.m. m., according to NCS data.
So far, the Police Control Room has not received immediate reports of loss of life or property damage caused by the quakes.
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje reacted to the tremors and tweeted, "We have felt earthquake tremors at other places in the state including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!"
Geographically, Jaipur is not located in a high-risk earthquake zone. Seismic Zone II locates Jaipur, which is considered a low-risk zone for earthquakes.
