Now the next vaccine will be given at a gap of 12 weeks and we have asked them about their route so that they can be vaccinated somewhere in the mountains. Dr. Masarat said that if we could not vaccinate him now, then we would have to wait till he returns in October.

Ground Report | Srinagar: Weyan village in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the target of 100% Covid vaccination. All the people of the village above the age of 18 years have been vaccinated. In this way, it is the first village in the country, where 100% vaccination has been done.

In the village, where the villagers have shown awareness to achieve the target of vaccination, the health workers have also worked hard. Health workers had to travel up to 11 kilometers to reach this village nestled in the middle of the forests. When the team of health workers reached this village last Friday, all 362 villagers got the vaccine vaccinated.

"Weyan, a village in district Bandipora (J&K) has become the first village in the country, where the entire population above 18 years has been vaccinated," the official Twitter account of PIB, Jammu, and Kashmir said in a tweet.

The majority of the population in the village is from the tribal community, who always migrate to the mountains in summer and return with their livestock only in the autumn season.

Dr. Masrat, Block Medical Officer, Bandipora said that all the people above 18 years of age in the village have been vaccinated. She said that if we had waited, these people would have left for the mountains, and then it would have been difficult to get them vaccinated. So we have already achieved this target.

Now the next vaccine will be given at a gap of 12 weeks and we have asked them about their route so that they can be vaccinated somewhere in the mountains. Dr. Masarat said that if we could not vaccinate him now, then we would have to wait till he returns in October.

Dr. Masrat said, 'This village is backward, where there is no road, electricity and mobile network. When we sent the team there two weeks ago, only 6 people, including the sarpanch, came forward for this. After that, we projected the sarpanch and those people who had got the vaccine as role models. After this, they inspired everyone and after everyone agreed, a 100% target of vaccination was achieved.
