PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti also said, “There is a need to establish peace in the entire region, not just Jammu and Kashmir. Our government is talking to the Taliban in Doha, Qatar. Along with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, there should be talks with Pakistan also.
Mehbooba Mufti has been an attacker on the Modi government for ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The special status of Jammu and Kashmir was abolished by the Modi government on August 5, 2019.
Mehbooba said, “I will raise the issue of political prisoners of Jammu and Kashmir. New Delhi should release all political prisoners to create an atmosphere of dialogue. I want Kashmiri prisoners to be shifted from outside jails to Srinagar jail.
On June 24, Prime Minister Modi has called an all-party meeting to discuss Jammu and Kashmir. This will also include the Gupkar Alliance. The decision was taken in a meeting held at Farooq Abdalla’s residence in Srinagar. Apart from this, Congress has also agreed to attend the meeting.
Secret meeting in Doha?
India is also keeping an eye on the changing situation in Afghanistan. According to reports, Indian officials secretly held talks with Taliban leaders in Doha. This was disclosed by Qatar’s special envoy Mutlak bin Majit in a web conference. He said that the Taliban could play an important role in the politics of Afghanistan in the future. That’s why India is also talking to them.
It is being told that India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was given the responsibility of this conversation. So far nothing has been said by the government in this matter. India is currently with the government of Afghanistan but if there is a change, the Taliban can also come forward in policymaking.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar is also currently on a visit to the Gulf countries. On Tuesday, he said there was a need for lasting peace in Afghanistan. He also made strong statements against terrorism. He also said that the safe havens of terrorists in Afghanistan should be destroyed immediately.
