The accused, who worked as a security guard, became suspicious and accused her sister of having sexual relations and bleeding from it. The girl had no knowledge of menstruation and she did not know what was happening to her.

According to police reports, a 12-year-old girl lived with her 30-year-old brother and his wife. Her brother became suspicious when he noticed blood stains on the girl's clothes and accused her of having a sexual relationship.

Despite her explanation that it was her first menstrual cycle, he subjected her to physical abuse and torture. The accused reportedly used tongs to inflict severe burns on various parts of the victim's body.

The Ulhasnagar Police Station has charged the accused under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

This horrifying incident highlights the ongoing taboo surrounding menstruation. He is concerned that the 30-year-old brother, who was married, did not consider the possibility that his 12-year-old sister might have started her period. Was he really that ignorant about menstruation, or was his behavior motivated by misogyny and over-suspicion?
