Ground Report | New Delhi: Team India registered its first win; India did wonders with the ball on the fifth day of the many ups and downs Oval Test and beat England by 157 runs. The Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, uprooted the English team's feet on a pitch that looked easy for the batsmen. Umesh Yadav took the last three wickets. Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each.

Team India registered its first win

With this win, India has taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The last match of the series will be played in Manchester from September 10, but due to the victory of the Oval, it is decided that the host England team cannot win this series. India had set a challenge of 368 runs for victory in front of England at the Oval. But England's team could only score 210 runs.

The England team, which took a lead of 99 runs in the first innings, got a good start in the second innings as well. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed put on a hundred runs for the first wicket. Of these, 77 runs were added on the fourth day itself.

Shardul Thakur gave India the first success in the second innings. He dismissed Burns for 50 runs. Malan, who came at number three, could only score five runs and was run out but by lunch both the teams were looking on equal footing. At lunch, England's score was 131 runs for two wickets.

Bumrah's century

He made a new Indian record by taking the hundredth wicket in the 24th Test. He has taken hundred wickets in the shortest match among Indian fast bowlers. Before him, this record was in the name of former captain Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev completed 100 wickets in 25 Tests.

Bumrah also celebrated the completion of hundred wickets with pride and did not even allow Jonny Bairstow to open the account. Ravindra Jadeja gave the sixth blow to England. They did not allow Moeen Ali to open the account.

After this the England team started appearing under pressure. Shardul Thakur capitalized it well and captain Joe Root was bowled. Root scored 36 runs. Umesh Yadav gave the eighth blow to England.
