Ground Report | New Delhi: Taliban denies; Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui has issued a statement by Taliban killing. The Taliban has categorically denied its role behind the death of Danish Siddiqui. Along with this, the Taliban has also expressed grief over the death.
On 16 July 2021, Danish Siddiqui was covering the clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban in Kandahar for the news agency Rotters, when he was assassinated.

Taliban denies
Denying the Taliban's involvement in the killing of Siddiqui, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told CNN-News18,“We do not know during whose firing the journalist died. We don't know how he died."
In an exclusive interview to CNN-News18 , Mujahid said, "Any journalist entering a war zone should report to us. We will take proper care of that journalist."
Expressing regret over Siddiqui's death, a Taliban spokesman said, "We are sorry for the death of Indian journalist Danish Siddiqui."
"Any journalist entering the war zone should inform us. We will take proper care of that particular individual," Mujahid was quoted as saying by CNN-News18. “We are sorry for Indian journalist Danish Siddiqui’s death. We regret that journalists are entering war zone without intimation to us," he added
Danish used to work with the news agency Reuters. His body has been handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Now preparations are being made to bring the dead body to India.

The Afghan commander told Reuters that Afghan Special Forces were fighting to recapture the main market area of Spin Boldak when Siddiqui and a senior Afghan officer were killed. The Afghan commander has blamed Taliban firing for this.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has also condoled the death of Danish Siddiqui.
