Abrar Fahd, a 21-year-old second year student of the country's prestigious Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was lynched to death on October 7, 2019, by 25 BUET students, who were members of the student wing Chhatra League. ruling Awami League party.
In the early hours of 7 October 2019, Abrar Fahd, a second year student of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), died after he was allegedly brutally beaten up by some student league men. happened. In the Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the University.
After this incident, protests erupted in campuses across the country. Many took to social media to demand justice for Abrar.

Abrar's father Barkat Ullah had filed a murder case against 19 BCL leaders and workers in this regard at Chowkbazar police station on October 7.
On 11 October the Bouette authorities banned all political activity on the premises. Later, he expelled 25 students, mostly leaders and activists of the BCL unit of the university, in the murder case on November 21.
On November 13 of the same year, Inspector Mohammad Wahidujaman of the Detective Branch of the police presented the chargesheet of the case against 25 accused in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka.
During the investigation, eight accused Anik, Robin, Ifti, Monir, Zion, Mujahid, Tanveer and Sadat gave their confessional statements to different magistrates.
The tribunal had on September 15 last year framed charges against the accused.
Abrar Fahad was beaten up for six hours with a cricket bat and other sharp objects. These 25 students who were beaten up were members of the ruling Awami League's student wing 'Bangladesh Chhatra League'. Of these, 20 accused have been sentenced to death while the remaining five have been given life imprisonment. Three accused are still absconding.
The students who have been sentenced to death were all in the age group of 20 to 22 at the time of the incident and studied with Fahad at the prestigious University of Engineering in Bangladesh. Farooq Ahmed, counsel for some of the accused, said that an appeal would be made to the higher court against the verdict.

"They are young and some of the best students in the country. Some of them were sentenced to death despite not having proper evidence against them."
Fahad had put up a post on Facebook which went viral hours before his death. In it, he criticized the government for signing an agreement that allowed India to draw water from a river that borders the two countries.
In the leaked CCTV footage that went viral on social media, Fahadh was seen going to a hostel along with some BCL workers. After about six hours, the students pulled out his body and laid it on the ground.
