The campaign, which began on December 1, is in partnership with the Indore Municipal Corporation and NGO Energy Swaraj Foundation. The first phase will run until March, focusing on energy literacy and reducing electricity consumption by 7 to 10 percent citywide.

During a meeting chaired by District Collector Ashish Singh, key stakeholders outlined the campaign’s objectives and strategies. Chetan Singh Solanki, the “Solar Man of India,” highlighted the transformative potential of simple lifestyle adjustments, like wearing unironed clothes once a week and consuming uncooked food one day a week. “These habits can save significant energy and greatly reduce carbon dioxide CO2 emissions," Solanki remarked.

Municipal Commissioner Shivam Verma, District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain, Smart City CEO Divyank Singh, and other officials emphasized the importance of collective action.

Divyank Singh, CEO of Indore Smart City, expressed optimism about the mission’s impact. “The Climate Mission is not just a campaign; it’s a call for every Indore resident to rethink their energy usage. Through collective action, we can set an example for the world on sustainable urban living,” he said.

To make the mission effective, all district government departments must reduce office electricity consumption by 20 percent. Activities will include energy literacy workshops, awareness drives, and practical training sessions.

Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava stressed the importance of involving the community. "By training residents to adopt energy-efficient habits, Indore aims to become a global leader in combating climate change," he said.

The ‘Indore Climate Mission’ is another achievement for the city as it leads India’s sustainability efforts, promising a cleaner, greener future for its citizens.
