The daily wage workers will get an increased salary in their hands. Minimum wages have been increased from 1st April. Now, employees will also get the variable dearness allowance (VDA). The daily wage workers will also get a holiday like the other regular employees. This decision will benefit  the lives of 20 lakh workers who are working in mills, factories, PSUs and power companies of Madhya Pradesh. The Labour Department of Madhya Pradesh has already issued a notification on this.

The daily wages of the four worker categories have increased from Rs 466 to Rs 633. This increment is given on the basis of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The minimum wage rates are revised twice every year, in April and October, by the Labour Department. This revision is done by the Labour Commissioner on the basis of CPI. With this new increment, daily wage workers and employees will get only Rs 275 extra per month. On this, the labour unions are not satisfied.

The president of Madhya Pradesh Karmachari Manch, Ashok Pandey, said that the salaries of daily wage employees and workers have been increased in Madhya Pradesh from April 1, 2025. With this move, the salary of an unskilled worker is going to be Rs 12,125 per month. The semi-skilled workers will get Rs 13,121 per month. The salary will be paid Rs 14,844 per month to skilled workers and highly skilled workers will get Rs 16,469 per month.

The trade union leaders from the state have demanded the wage fixation on the basis of the new index in place of the old CPI index. The salaries were increased in April 2024; later, they were reduced in May. The increased pay scale is effective from today and this will be the same till the next revision in October 2025. Another amendment can provide a big relief to the workers.
