What is 360 degree body scanning health mirror?
At CES 2025, wellness tech company Withings introduced Omnia, a full-size smart mirror that provides a complete health assessment using 360-degree body scanning. This mirror combines a smart scale, fitness tracker, and telehealth device to help users monitor and improve their health in real-time.
What Is Omnia and how does it work?
Omnia is more than a mirror. It scans your body and analyzes key health metrics like weight, heart health, and lung function. The mirror includes a built-in scale that measures blood pressure, heart rate, Vo2 Max (cardiovascular fitness), and sleep quality. With these features, Omnia acts as an all-in-one health monitoring tool.
A standout feature is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to provide personalized health recommendations. The AI assistant can suggest lifestyle changes, such as increasing daily steps or dietary adjustments, and may recommend visiting a doctor based on the collected data.
Omnia provides a comprehensive health view by gathering data from other Withings devices, such as smartwatches, blood pressure monitors, and sleep trackers. This allows users to see trends over time and understand their overall health. The mirror is interactive, allowing users to touch the screen or use voice commands to access different features.
Another key function is Omnia’s ability to measure metabolic health. It can determine a person’s muscle-to-fat ratio, visceral fat levels (around internal organs), and weight trends. This information is useful for those focused on fitness, weight management, or improving well-being.
Additional features
While Omnia is still in development, Withings has confirmed that some of its features will be integrated into their existing products later this year. For example:
-
BPM Vision: A new blood pressure monitor expected in April 2025, pending FDA approval. It will connect to the Withings app and cost $129.95.
-
Cardio Check-Up Program: A subscription service ($9.95/month or $99.95/year) for quarterly heart check-ups from certified cardiologists. It works with Withings devices with electrocardiogram (ECG) capabilities.
The body-scanning health mirror concept is an ambitious step in digital health innovation. If Omnia becomes a real product, it could change how people track their health and wellness. However, Withings hasn’t confirmed a release date, and the cost may concern consumers.
Withings has a strong reputation for high-quality health gadgets, and Omnia reflects the company’s vision for the future of personal health monitoring. Whether it becomes widely available or remains a concept, it highlights the evolution of technology in the wellness industry.
Health-conscious consumers can look forward to Withings’ upcoming products and new app features, making advanced health tracking more accessible in 2025.
