The tent also eliminates the chances of pollution, use of kerosene, and emission while it will need only sunlight, water, and insulated layers to maintain the temperature.

The tent will accommodate 8 to 10 soldiers at a time.

In a video, Wangchuk as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that with the deployment of troopers in snow-capped mountains having a freezing temperature, government spends lakhs on kerosene that not only lead to pollution but also result in death of soldiers due to below freezing temperature.

He stated that after developing a solar-heated system for homes in the last 30 years he has developed a solar tent, which was earlier being used by the nomads living in remote areas some 15 years back.

Sonam said it took him nearly a month to make the tent.

"The tent contains a greenhouse and let sunlight in towards the highly insulated sleeping chamber. Wind sheet waterproof has been used at the top," he said. "It has two parts that include a sleeping chamber and the other is a solar lunge for rest. The sleeping chamber wall serves as a heat bank to be used for the night."

He said that the temperature in the sleeping chamber is expected to be between 10 to 15 degrees Celsius.

"Every part of the tent won't weigh more than 30 kgs so it can be moved from one place to another easily," Wangchuk said.

"The tent has been designed considering the need for security forces. The tent will cost Rs 5 lakh," he said.

Notably, Sonam Wangchuk is known as an Indian engineer, innovator, and education reformist based in Ladakh UT.
