Since July 2020, 10 BJP leaders have been killed in Kashmir

On Wednesday, Rakesh Pandita, a councilor of the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP, was killed by extremists in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the last few years, many leaders, especially the BJP leaders, have been attacked in Kashmir. Along with this, many cases of killing of Panches and Sarpanches have also come to the fore.

Ground Report | New Delhi: On Wednesday, Rakesh Pandita, a councilor of the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP, was killed by extremists in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Police said that Rakesh Somnath Pandita has been shot dead in Pulwama late on Wednesday evening.

According to a police spokesperson, "Pandita was provided with police protection. She was always accompanied by two personal security officers. She was also given a safe accommodation to stay in Srinagar."

Since July 2020, 10 BJP leaders have been killed in Kashmir. The security of the leaders was reviewed after the series of these killings started last year. After this most of the leaders were given security as well as a safe house in Srinagar. But such incidents are not taking the name of stopping.

In the last few years, many leaders, especially the BJP leaders, have been attacked in Kashmir. Along with this, many cases of killing of Panches and Sarpanches have also come to the fore.

In October 2020, Three BJP workers Fida Hussain Yatu, Omar Rashid, and Omar Ramzan Hajam were killed in an militants attack. Their car was attacked in Kulgam's YK Pura area in the evening, in which all three died.

In August 2020, BJP worker Abdul Hamid Nazar was abused by unknown people in Budgam. Abdul Hamid was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition but he later died. A few days before his death.

In August 2020, A sarpanch and BJP worker named Sajjad Ahmed Khanday was shot dead outside his residence in Vessu area of Qazigund in southern Kashmir.

On August, 2020, Arif Ahmed, a member of the Bharatiya Janata BJP's panchayat, was also killed by terrorists in Akhran, South Kashmir.

In July 2020, Former BJP district president Sheikh Wasim Bari, his father, and his brother were shot dead by suspected militants in Kashmir's Bandipora district on 22 July 2020. The attack took place late in the evening when all three were in their shop near their house.

Police said Militants opened fire on BJP worker Waseem Ahmed Bari. Bari, 38, his father Bashir Ahmed, 60, and his brother Umar Bashir, 30, were injured in the incident. Later all three died.

In May 2019, Gul Mohammad Mir alias Atal Ji was assassinated in Nowgam of Anantnag district of South Kashmir. In the late evening of May 4, at around 10.00 pm, gunmen opened fire on him in Verinag. Gul Mohammad, 60, was the BJP district president of Anantnag. He also contested elections from Dooru assembly constituency in the years 2008 and 2014.

In August 2018, BJP leader Shabbir Ahmed Butt was shot dead by gunmen in Pulwama. Shabbir Butt was protected and lived in Srinagar, away from his village. He was attacked on 22 August when he was going from Srinagar to his village in Pulwama in the evening. He was returning to the village to celebrate Eid.

In November 2017, In the year 2017, BJP's Shopian district president and BJP youth wing leader Gauhar Ahmed Butt was murdered by slitting his throat. The body of 30-year-old Gauhar was found on November 2, 2017 from a garden in Killura. According to the police, he was kidnapped from outside his house and murdered. Gauhar Butt, a resident of Bongam in Shopian, had joined the BJP three years ago.

In 2014, Mushtaq Noorabadi, 49, is an old BJP leader in Kashmir and has been the president of the Muslim Morcha. Mushtaq had associated his relationship with the BJP when he was 22 years old. The house of Mushtaq, a resident of Noorabad in Kulgam district, was attacked in the year 2014. After the attack, Mushtaq started living in Srinagar with his family. Mushtaq was not present at the time of the attack.

According to the news website DailyExcelsire, Mushtaq's convoy was attacked by some unidentified people during the election campaign in Shopian in 2014. Two-party workers were injured in this attack.
