Ground Report: Sidhu's advisor Malvinder Mali; Malwinder Singh Mali, advisor to Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, resigned. Mali's resignation comes after his controversial statements. Malvinder had commented on Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, and several other party leaders.
The controversy erupted after Mali and Pyare Lal Garg said on social media that both India and Pakistan "illegally occupy" Jammu and Kashmir. The uproar became more when a post against Mali's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi also surfaced.

"I withdraw my consent given for tendering suggestions to Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu," wrote Malwinder Singh Mali while quitting as an advisor to Sidhu on Friday.

"Anti-Sikh forces that can't tolerate the emerging Punjab model, issue-based and solution-based politics of transparency and accountability, which has dawned in the backdrop of the long-drawn peaceful 'Kisan Andolan', have a nefarious design to derail the dialogue process that has started taking shape... (There is a plot to) push me into the struggle with tied hands, which is not acceptable to me. I humbly withdraw my consent given for tendering suggestions to Navjot Singh Sidhu," Mali said in an official statement.

In a social media post, Mali spoke on the issue of abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He had reportedly said that if Kashmir was a part of India, then what was the need of Article 370 and 35A. He had also said, "Kashmir is the country of the Kashmiri people."
The BJP on Monday hit out at the Congress over controversial remarks made by two of Navjot Singh Sindhu's advisors and sought a response from its leader Rahul Gandhi.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also posted Sidhu's November 2019 speech on Twitter in which he praised Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan during the opening ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and questioned whether his advisers had reacted to his comments. Inspired.
