Ground Report | New Delhi: Shein to relaunch in India on Amazon; Banned Chinese fashion brand Shein is all set to make a comeback in India via Amazon, during its upcoming Amazon Prime Day sale. This sale will be started from midnight of 26th July to 27th July across India.

Shein to relaunch in India on Amazon

This e-commerce platform is a popular destination for shoppers, due to its latest styles and accessible price tiers. It was banned by the Indian government in June 2020, along with Ali Express, Clubhouse, and other Chinese websites such as PUBG Mobile, TikTok, WeChat, and Camscanner, as part of the Ministry of Home Affairs action on Chinese apps following the India-China conflict.

However, Shein is set to re-enter the Indian market as a seller on e-commerce giant Amazon. Amazon Fashion has listed Shein as a part of its Prime Day 2021 sale, which will go live on Amazon's website from July 26 to 27. However, Shein's own site is still not available for Indian buyers.

Why was Shein banned in India?

Xen was one of the 250 Chinese applications that were banned by India between June and September 2020. The Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India had banned these Chinese apps in India under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, in view of the emerging nature of the threats, as credible information revealed that these apps were not in India. Sovereignty and integrity are inimical to India's defense and security as well as India's public order.
