Shein posts pics of model posing with water bottle to promote plus-size tights, criticised

Shein came under fire on social media after she posted a photo of the model posing with a container of water to show off her plus-size stockings. The budget retailer is well known for making headlines with its questionable pieces and low prices, but this time the fashion giant failed to impress consumers.

Many women demand that online retailers "do better" and source more plus-size models to demonstrate clothing without the need for accessories. Twitter user @karmaxkarmm went viral after sharing a snapshot of the website's image on social media, writing, "SHEIN. Couldn't find a plus-size model??????? What is THIS?".

The screenshot shows a model posing in beige tights with a large blue water dispenser tucked into her hips and covered by excess fabric.

The viral tweet, which has been liked by more than 95,000 users, sparked a debate with thousands of people responding to the image.

"Shame Shein," one person said, while another wrote, "Shame on you." "This has to be fake," someone tweeted, with a fourth adding: "Tell me this isn't real."

"I think it's really sad when brands do things so badly. The number of plus size women who are still not allowed in the modelling industry and instead of using them @shein_official thinks it's okay to do this." another agreed.

Many people were confused by the online retailer's actions, telling them they should look for more plus-size models to demonstrate clothes without the need for accessories like a water bottle.

The viral post has sparked a lot of debate on social media, and it's fair to say the photo isn't exactly popular.

One woman said: “Really!! That thing is empty!!! It needs to hold the girth and weight!!! They act like we haven't been around forever!!!!! !"

Confused fashionistas have shared photos of the shorts on social media and it seems not everyone is up for wearing the eye-catching garment.

An unimpressed Facebook user shared a photo of the shorts and joked, "Here's another dumb 2022 fad. Anyone wants to stick their butt out."

Someone replied, "My partner sent it to me. I said it would look like two watermelons if I put it on."

One woman, who apparently stumbled upon the shorts after seeing an ad on her Facebook page, shared: "Yes cheeky tan is your thing! SHEIN obviously thinks it's mine but how did they know? ?".

While another woman thought the shorts were hilarious and wrote, "Anyone want to buy some new shorts? LOL #SheinDoesItAgain."

A second added: "It's amazing how common this is, to 'prove' that clothes fit fat people, many brands make people who aren't fat stretch clothes as much as possible, in several different ways.
