Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story is an Indian Hindi-language crime drama web-series directed by Hansal Mehta streaming on Sony Liv. Based on 1992 Indian stock market scam committed by stockbroker Harshad Mehta, the series is adapted from journalist Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu's book The Scam: Who Won, who Lost, who Got Away.

IMDb rating for Scam 1992 is unbelievable. Shows like Breaking Bad' and 'Planet Earth II' enjoy 9.5 ranking on IMDb. 'Chernobyl', too, only enjoys 9.4 ratings on the website. ‘Game of Thrones’, which was the most followed show of all time, only has a rating of 9.2 on IMDb.

My eyes glaze over when they hear the word ‘the market’, but I have to say that Scam 1992 hooked me, kept me that way throughout, even though some parts felt a trifle stretched and loose. The writing is terrific, and the re-creation of that era and its people authentic.

The show doesn’t shy away from naming names just like its source material, which itself is so fascinating. At times, the pace drops as Harshad finds himself in repetitive problems and the stock market lingo becomes overbearing. But the fact that it’s a real story that captured the country’s collective imagination makes for a riveting watch. It’s almost like our very own desi version of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and we’re quite bullish that it will keep you invested.

Mayank Sharma: Brilliant piece of work. A rare gem not to be missed at all

This year was flooded with web series on all the OTT platforms. But not everyone matches the bar set by this series. I watched it devoid of any expectations thinking of completing an episode per day but ended up binge watching it. Hansal Mehta is already an established name in the industry. I was always a fan of his filmography. But this series made me a bigger fan of his. The effort the whole team has put in literally shows on screen. Full marks to Pratik Gandhi who lived his character completely. Rest of the cast also did a fabulous job. It was a tough task of displaying entire journey of Harshad Mehta in 10 episodes but the master magician Hansal Mehta did that with perfection. Extra points to the bgm and cinematography. All in all it is a must watch web series for everyone.
