Ground Report | New Delhi: S Jaishankar discussed issues; Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, on Wednesday. Giving information about this meeting from his official Twitter account, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote, "On the sidelines of the Foreign Minister level meeting between the SCO countries in Dushanbe, an hour-long bilateral with the Foreign Minister and State Counselor of China, Wang Yi.

The meeting is over. The meeting focused on issues related to the western sector along the LAC, which were to be discussed for a long time. "This meeting has underlined that a unilateral change of status quo is not acceptable, and the full restoration and maintenance of peace in the border areas is essential for the development of our relations. We agreed to convene a senior military commander-level meeting at the earliest".

S Jaishankar discussed issues with Wang

Jaishankar underlined that any unilateral change of status quo on the LAC was not acceptable and normal bilateral relations would depend on the restoration of peace and tranquility in the border areas.

Taking to micro-blogging platform Twitter, Jaishankar said that his discussions with Wang during the hour-long meeting were "focused on outstanding issues along the LAC in the western region."

The Ministry of External Affairs said that Jaishankar and Wang also exchanged issues relating to overall India-China relations.

In another tweet, Jaishankar said he and his Chinese counterpart agreed to "convene a preliminary meeting of senior military commanders". (S Jaishankar discussed issues)

Jaishankar reportedly told Wang that the disintegration in the Pangong Tso area in Ladakh earlier this year had created conditions for resolving the remaining issues.

Jaishankar and Wang are in Dushanbe to attend the meetings of the SCO Foreign Ministers and the SCO Liaison Group on Afghanistan.

This was the first one-on-one bilateral meeting between Jaishankar and Wang since last September when the two ministers held talks on the sidelines of another SCO foreign ministers meeting in Moscow.
