RRR is still reigning the charts, but this time it is on Netflix. The film has been on the trending globally for 14 consecutive weeks in both English and non-english categories. Adding to the delight, RRR is the ONLY film to achieve this sensational record beating Ryan Reynolds starrer Red Notice.
Film’s director Rajamouli’s last release Baahabuli: The Conclusion broke all the records, and people thought it would be impossible to repeat the same. The master storyteller proved everyone wrong. RRR continuous to receive love across the globe.
Although, SS Rajamouli was angry at Netflix for just buying the hindi version of the film. In a candid conversation with Russo Brothers, Rajamouli honestly expressed his concerns.
RRR and Oscar Buzz
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also claimed that RRR can bring Oscar nomination for India, if selected in the Best International Feature Film Category. Variety Magazine placed NTR Jr, who stars in the movie, as potential actor to be nominated in the Best Actor category at Oscars.
If that wasn’t enough, in the show–The Take–, Variety’s Senior awards editor Clayton Davis said RRR could be considered for more the big Oscar categories--Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Director, and more-- also.
West’s perception of RRR
‘RRR’ is also perceived as a gay romance story by some fans in the west. In a tweet praising Rajamouli's direction, a Twitter user named Movie Bear Jim from the West wrote: "Amazing action yes. Adventure yes. Revenge yes. But why didn't any of you tell me 'RRR' was that touching? homosexual? This is just one of the social media posts saying that Jr NTR and Ram Charan's characters share a homosexual attraction in the movie.
Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty also called SS Rajamouli's RRR a gay love story. He wrote on Instagram and said Rajamouli's RRR a gay love story. He even said that Alia Bhatt was used as a prop in the movie RRR.
Home Minister Amit Shah Meets NTR Jr.
Recently, Home Minister Amit Shah met NTR Jr. in Hyderbad for a 15 mins dinner. People considered this to have happened as the minister wanted to praise NTR Jr. for his performance in the movie. On the other hand, meeting could be to gain prominence in regional politics, people are speculating.
About RRR
‘RRR’ is a fictional re-telling of two real life freedom fighters– Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem– in India’s struggle for Independence from the British. Although, the two revolutionaries never met each other in real life. The film fictionalises their brotherhood and camaraderie. The film stars Ramcharan, and NTR Jr. in pivotal roles. And, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn are seen in cameos.
The film is written by Rajamouli’s father V Vijayendra Prasad, who also wrote Baahubali.
