Retired judge who gave verdict in Babri Masjid demolition case appointed 'Lokayukta' in UP

The UP government appointed the special judge of the CBI court Surendra Kumar Yadav, who acquitted 32 accused, including Lalkrishna Advani, in the Babri Masjid case.

Surendra Kumar Yadav gave the verdict in the case of Babri Masjid being demolished on 30 September 2020.

The judgment held that the Babri Masjid was not demolished under any intrigue and there was no evidence to incite the kar sevaks against Advani, and others.

Surendra Kumar Yadav had acquitted all the accused in the Babri demolition case on December 6, 1992, on 30 September 2020, as a special judge of the CBI. These included senior BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh.

Surendra Kumar Yadav had said in his order that there is no conclusive evidence against the accused and whatever happened on December 6, 1992 was not a conspiracy, but a sudden incident.

Born at the home of Ramakrishna Yadav of Pakhanpur village in Jaunpur district of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Surendra Kumar Yadav was selected for state judicial service at the age of 31.

His judicial life began with the first posting of the post of Additional Munsif in Faizabad, reaching the rank of District Judge of the capital Lucknow via Ghazipur, Hardoi, Sultanpur, Etawah, Gorakhpur.

Surendra Yadav retired from the post of District Judge of Lucknow on September 30, 2019, but due to this suit by order of the Supreme Court, Special Judge remained in the post of CBI-Ayodhya case till September 30, 2020, Surendra Kumar Yadav residing in Jaunpur.

He was a post graduate in Law from Kashi Hindu University, Varanasi. He started his career on 8 June 1990 with the post of Additional Munsif Magistrate in Ayodhya.

Later he held positions like ACJM, CJM and Upper District Judge in all the districts. Today in Lucknow, he was appointed as Deputy Lokayukta by Governor Anandiben Patel.
