Patients with coronavirus symptoms show fever in 87.9%, dry cough in 67% and fatigue in 38%. Based on the World Health Organization research, AIIMS has built 17 clinical features to identify patients.

Among these, chest X-ray and CT scan are also said to be an important means of identification of the patient.

15 symptoms have been included in the 17 key points made by AIIMS for clinical identification. These symptoms were seen in a World Health Organization study of 55924 corona-affected patients in China.

According to a research published in the New England Journal of Medicine, a chest CT scan can identify 86% of patients. In addition, in 56 percent of people, a chest X-ray can identify a suspected corona patient. AIIMS has also included these in the clinical feature to identify its patients.

A report from the World Health Organization and China Joint Mission on the COVID-19 published said that of the 55,924 laboratory-confirmed cases it recorded, 87.9% had fever and 67.7% had dry cough. According to the joint WHO-China report, mild cases recover within 2 weeks but those with severe or critical disease recover in 3-6 weeks.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, are fever, cough and shortness of breath,” according to John Hopkins Medicine. “Some patients also have body aches, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea.
