Ground Report | New Delhi: Rape threats to Virat's Daughter; A man has been arrested for allegedly making rape threats to Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli's 10-month-old daughter following the team's dismal performance in the T20 World Cup. He was arrested from the southern city of Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old accused, Akubathini Ramnagesh, will be brought to Mumbai where he will be produced before a local court for custody. The Indian team has faced a flurry of online abuse after losing consecutive matches in the current tournament. The trolling seems to have started after India's loss to arch-rivals Pakistan. Police said the threats targeted Virat Kohli's 10-month-old daughter and actress Anushka Sharma, who has a house in Mumbai. The incident (issue of threat) happened on October 24 and cyber police after preliminary investigation registered a case on behalf of Kohli on Monday, November 8.

In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, the Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police said: “By releasing publicly objectionable tweets about the ten-month-old daughter of Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and cinema artist Anushka Sharma, they have committed an act of Who will bring Shame in a woman's mind and defame her parents.

The hatred escalated after Virat Kohli backed fellow cricketer Mohammed Shami, who incidentally is the only Muslim player in the Indian team to play against Pakistan. After the team's defeat, many trollers attacked Shami for his religion. Kohli had issued a statement that read, "Attacking one's religion is the most, I would say the pathetic thing that a human being can do." (Rape threats to Virat's Daughter)
