Rajya Sabha adjourned till 9 am tomorrow as opposition walks out

The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were uprooted on Tuesday and it was adjourned till 9 am on Wednesday. Earlier, the House had to postpone the proceedings thrice after the opposition remained adamant to discuss the farmers' issue.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said in the House that the discussion on the protest of the farmers will not take place today, after which the commotion started. 

Expressing his intention to conduct the proceedings of the House in a normal manner, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday asked the members to follow the rules, maintain discipline and maintain dignity while discussing issues of national and public importance in the House.

Indirectly pointing to the huge uproar in the Upper House at the time of the passage of the three Agriculture Bills in the last session of Parliament, Naidu asked the members to make the current budget session more meaningful in which issues are discussed in a peaceful, orderly and decent manner.

He did not give more details, saying, 'There were some unfortunate incidents last time.

At the time of the passage of the three Bills brought for the reform of the agricultural sector, in the last session in September, some members of the opposition had torn the rule book and came very close to the seat and created a ruckus.

Naidu said, "It is binding on all of us to ensure that the House runs properly, the members follow the rules, discipline and dignity are maintained and participation in the discussion in a meaningful manner.

 He said, "I have always been telling the members to avoid any situation that affects the interests of the House and the nation."
