Ground Report | New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi asked Modi govt; Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asked the central government what the government has done with the Rs 23 lakh crore earned from gas, diesel, and petrol. Along with this, he has said that if there is an increase in the prices of crude oil in the international market, then it may put the Indian government in trouble.

Rahul Gandhi asked Modi govt

He has said that diesel, petrol, and gas are such things that affect every part of the economy and when their prices increase, it has direct and indirect effects. Rahul Gandhi said, “When the prices of petrol, diesel, and gas increase, then those people who put diesel, petrol in a car, scooter, or truck, then they get a direct injury. And when the price of diesel, petrol increases, it increases the cost of transportation of goods. This increases the price of everything. This is an indirect effect of it."

After this, Rahul Gandhi said that when the UPA handed over the reins of governance to the BJP in 2014, despite the high prices of diesel, petrol, and gas in the international market, their prices were low in India.

He said, “Narendra Modi Ji had said in 2014 that the prices of diesel, petrol are increasing. Then the price of the gas cylinder was only Rs 410. 885 today is Rs. 116% increase. The price of petrol was Rs 71.5 per liter. Today the price of petrol per liter is Rs 101. 42% increase. And the price of diesel was Rs 57 per liter which is Rs 88 today. This is an increase of 55%.

International market

The funny thing is that one can say that this growth could be influenced by the growth in the international markets. But when the UPA government was there, the price of crude oil in the international market was Rs 105. Today is Rs 71. In our era, it was 32 percent more. In our era, the price of gas in the international market was 880, today it is 653, 26 percent higher.

In such a situation, when the prices of these things are falling in the international market and are increasing in India. At the same time, our properties are being sold. The government has earned Rs 23 lakh crore from gas, diesel, and petrol. My question is, where did these 23 lakh crore rupees go?" After the end of this press conference, Rahul Gandhi said in response to a question that if the price of oil increases in the international market, then there may be a crisis.

He said, “The way the government is living on fuel prices, it has been kept alive by the low prices in the international market. Like I said about Corona, I am saying again that the day the price of crude oil in the international market reaches from Rs 70 to Rs 100, then the whole matter will go out of control here. This is the reality of the country. If you don't like it, that's a different matter.

Along with this, Rahul Gandhi has also attacked the monetization policy of the central government. He said, “Farmers, laborers, small and medium industries, MSMEs, salaried people, government employees, and honesty industries are being demonetised…Who is being monetised…Four-five of Narendra Modi Ji.
