Virat Kohli to step down as T20 and ODI captain: Report

Ground Report | New Delhi: Rahane and Pujara; Team India are increasing reports of discord between the players. Since the announcement of Virat Kohli leaving the captaincy of T20, it is being asked that what is the real reason behind his stepping down from the captaincy?

According to the report of the New Indian Express, Virat Kohli's behavior with Pujara and Rahane was not good after losing the World Test Championship to New Zealand. Both the players had raised objection to playing under the captaincy of Virat by calling BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

In the first World Test Championship, New Zealand defeated the Indian team by eight wickets. In the Test, the Indian team was bundled out for just 170 runs on the fifth day.

According to the report of the New Indian Express, after losing the match, Virat reprimanded Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the dressing room for their poor batting.

Pujara scored 8 runs in 54 balls in the first innings and scored only 15 runs in 80 balls in the second innings while Rahane scored 49 runs in the first innings and added 15 runs in 40 balls in the second innings.

"If you don't put their bowlers under pressure, they have the fitness and consistency to bowl long spells and bowl all day in the same area."

He further said that "the mindset should be to score runs and find ways to score runs. You can't be too worried about getting out, because you are bringing the bowler into the game completely."Now, it is reported that Pujara and Rahane had called up BCCI secretary Jay Shah to discuss Virat Kohli's captaincy after the WTC final.

After this revelation, it is believed that Virat's withdrawal from T20 captaincy was not Virat's decision but BCCI's decision. Along with this, there are also reports that after the T20 World Cup, the BCCI can take a big decision regarding the ODI captaincy of Virat Kohli.
