The plot of this game takes place within the Flaustrian Space Academy, where you are assigned to mentor a team of young and promising astronauts who want to be launched into space.

The problem is, they are extremely rebellious. Some of them are downright nightmares in terms of obedience, so you must find a way to connect with them all and get them to act productively. 

As other people note, it’s hilarious to get to know all these characters and undergo various missions by their side.

Back in 2015, a group of students undertaking the University of Southern California's Interactive Media program decided to experiment with different narrative games.

Two of them walked out full of bright plans and ideas, and years later, after finding two more members of the team, they focused on developing Astronaut: The Best. 

It took them 8 years to finalize their creation. For some of them, this was the first project ever, and it got absolutely no funding, which essentially turned it into an indie game.

Fortunately, the group didn’t give up, and their dedication earned them resounding success and many awed fans all over the world. 

The Philosophy Behind Astronaut: The Best

Why did these developers decide to name themselves a Universal Happymaker? This idea stems from their philosophy and worldview.

Our planet is a challenging and dark place, and everyone needs a piece of happiness every now and then.

The indie developers behind Astronaut: The Best wanted to share it with people by giving them some valuable moments of distraction and joy. 

That’s why they called themselves a Universal Happymaker, hoping that players all over the world would get at least a couple of hours of happiness from their game.

Based on reviews, they succeeded: people appreciate the diversity of Astronaut: The Best’s characters and its key philosophy. 

The game reflects the views of its creators. Mistakes are a natural part of the process, and unlike what happens in other games, in Astronaut: The Best, people actually earn bonus points for losing.
