Pregnant woman shot dead for refusing Physical relationship with Brother-in-law

A pregnant woman was shot dead on Sunday in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, allegedly by the brother-in-law, her husband's family claimed.

The parents of the deceased Pallavi Chhabra (27) say that she was married to Anshul Chhabra of Ravidas Nagar on 8 May, 17 months 2020, She was also 5 months pregnant.

The incident is reported to be around 9:40 am. But, it was reported by the family members about 11 o'clock from other acquaintances.

Police said that the deceased's father Hemraj Midha resident ward number 26 Anoopgarh has registered a case.

However, the case has been registered at the Women's Police Station due to the woman's handing over.

Police also conducted a macaque inspection as soon as the incident was reported. Police say that the family had taken the married woman to the district hospital before arriving at the scene of the incident. 

Shortly after the incident, the police has done the roundup of mother-in-law Meena Devi, Chhette Dewar Ishaan. At the same time, Anshul Da, the husband of the deceased, has already been arrested in another case three days ago.

Police report further said, the victim’s father said that the mother-in-law was forcing her to have sexual relations with her brother-in-law. He further said that harassment started sometime after the wedding when the in-laws started blaming the victim for the death of her father-in-law.

They started raising demand for dowry and started torturing her physically, especially when she refused to engage in a sexual relationship with her brothers-in-law.
