As the encounter is still on, vehicular traffic has been suspended between Bhimber Gali and Surankote along the Rajouri-Poonch National Highway. More forces have been sent to the area.

Officials had earlier said that the militant, whose number is believed to be around four-five, could be part of a group that infiltrated the Union Territory from across the Line of Control in August and was going to Shopian. They were stopped by police and security forces in the Pangai area of Rajouri district along Mughal Road. Two terrorists were killed on 6 August, while another was gunned down on 19 August.
