Ground Report | New Delhi: PM Modi's address at UNGA; Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday that it is important to ensure that the soil of Afghanistan is not used for terrorism.

Beginning his speech, he said, "For the last one and a half years, the whole world is facing the biggest pandemic in 100 years. I pay tribute to all the people who lost their lives in such a terrible epidemic and my condolences to the families."

"I am representing a country which has the distinction of Mother of Democracy. Democracy has a great tradition of thousands of years. On this 15th August, India has entered its 75th year of independence. Our diversity, our strong Democracy is its identity. Our diversity is the hallmark of our strong democracy. A country with dozens of languages, hundreds of dialects, different lifestyles, cuisines. It is a great example of a vibrant democracy."

“As the longest Chief Minister of Gujarat and then as the Prime Minister of India for the last seven years, I am going to have 20 years serving the countrymen in the role of Head of Government. And I am saying from my experience – Yes, Democracy can give and democracy has given."
