PM Modi inaugurates Amrut Mahotsav in Gujarat to celebrate 75 years of Independence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the padyatra from Sabarmati Ashram located in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat to Dandi.

In 1930, Mahatma Gandhi broke the salt law by marching up to Dandi. Today 91 years of this event are being completed.

The padyatra, which was flagged off by Prime Minister Modi, is a part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' being celebrated on the completion of 75 years of India's independence.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the website of 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' in Ahmedabad.

He garlanded the picture of Mahatma Gandhi in Hriday Kunj of Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. During this time, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were also present with him.

On this occasion, PM Modi said that 'Today the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence is starting. Amrit Mahotsav has started today, 75 weeks before 15 August 2022 and it will run till 15 August 2023.

He said, "Before the commencement of Amrut Mahotsav, there was also amrit rains in the capital of the country today and Varun Dev also blessed us. It is a privilege of all of us that we are witnessing this historic period in independent India."

"This opportunity of 75 years of independence will be given to the present generation as an elixir. An elixir that will inspire us to live and do something for the country every moment."

"On this auspicious occasion, I pay my respects at the feet of Bapu. I bow down at the feet of all the great personalities who have called for themselves in the freedom struggle of the country, who have led the country, and offer them a lot of worship."

"We still say today that we have eaten the salt of the country. Not because salt is a very valuable thing. It is because salt is a symbol of labor and equality in us."

"At that time salt was a symbol of India's self-reliance. The British hurt India's values ​​as well as this self-reliance. The people of India had to depend on salt coming from England."
