For the past several days, there was speculation about this and with many leaders visiting Delhi, there was speculation that he might be given a place in the cabinet. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had also indicated on Tuesday that his party JDU may join the Modi cabinet.

There will be an oath-taking ceremony for the new ministers joining the cabinet at 6 pm. 19 new faces can be included in the cabinet expansion of the Modi government. With this, the number of the council of ministers will increase from 53 to 72. The stature of some ministers can also be increased in the cabinet reshuffle. Among them, the prominent name of Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is also going on.
A party functionary said the new Union Cabinet would be the youngest in terms of average age and the decision to appoint Union Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot as Karnataka Governor could also be taken in this direction. He said that by making Pushkar Singh Dhami the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, the party leadership has indicated that youth leaders would be groomed by giving them important responsibilities.
Another party insider said that everyone will get proper representation in the cabinet, which will send a message that the Modi government is everyone's government and it works especially for the poor and deprived sections of the society.

As per the rules, there can be 81 ministers in Union Cabinet
According to the rules, there can be 81 ministers in the Union Cabinet. After the appointment of Thaawarchand Gehlot as the Governor on the previous day, the current number of cabinet members has come down to 52. In such a situation, posts are vacant for more than two dozen ministers.
At the time of cabinet expansion, social distancing will be taken care of along with the equations for the assembly elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Manipur and Gujarat next year.
