Ground Report | New Delhi: Plagiarism in Teri Mitti song; There have been allegations on social media that lyricist Manoj Muntashir plagiarized the song 'Teri Mitti' from Akshay Kumar's film Kesari from a Pakistani folk song.

For the past few days, Kesari Ki Teri Mitti is in the news for all the negative reasons. On social media, some people claimed that the song was copied from a Pakistani song released in 2005. What does lyricist and writer Manoj Muntashir have to say on this?

Apart from Kesari's chartbuster Teri Mitti, Manoj's other works have also been accused. His work, including poems and songs, is said to have picked up from elsewhere. Manoj has addressed all such allegations and also explained why he has been targeted.

Earlier this year, a video went viral on the internet in which a folk singer is seen singing his melodious tune. It was claimed that the singer is from Baloch, Pakistan. Now, allegations have been made that Manoj has copied a song from a 2005 song from Pakistan.

Responding to the allegations, Manoj Muntashir denied and said that he would stop writing if the allegations were true. The lyricist told ETimes, "Those making these allegations should kindly check the video which has been uploaded several months after the release of our film 'Kesari'. And for your information, the singer is not Pakistani but our own Indian folk singer. There is Geeta.

He added, "Geeta ji has always appreciated my work and you can even ask her." "If it is proved that Teri Mitti is a copy of any song, I will stop writing forever," he concluded.

Talking about the viral video, an IAS officer named Avneesh Sharan shared the video on Twitter praising the singer's voice. He wrote in Hindi that the song has been penned by Manoj Muntashir and sung beautifully by Baloch singer Wahab Ali Bugatti. He also asked his followers to listen to the song as it would make their hearts happy.

What is this matter

In the year 2018, Manoj Muntashir's book of poems 'Meri Fitrat Hai Mastana' was published by Vani Prakashan. There is a poem in this book titled 'Call me'. It is being said that Manoj Muntashir has stolen this poem as it is the Hindi translation of the poem call me from Robert J Levery's book Love Lost: Love Found in the year 2007.

When this matter came to light, Manoj Muntashir started being pulled up on social media. People are criticizing him. However, Manoj did not give any clarification on these allegations and made only one tweet and wrote – Could you find only 4 lines in a 200-page book and 400 film and non-film songs? so lazy?
