PLA soldiers infiltrated Demchok to stop Dalai Lama's birthday

Ground Report | New Delhi: PLA soldiers infiltrated Demchok; The news of the infiltration of Chinese soldiers has come to the fore in Demchok, Ladakh. The birthday of the Dalai Lama, the religious leader of the Tibetan people, was being celebrated in villages of Indian territory and Chinese soldiers infiltrated Demchok in Ladakh to protest it.

Chinese soldiers crossed the Indus river and came to Indian territory. In their hands were banners and flags of China. They had come in five vehicles on which apart from ordinary Chinese people, there were also Chinese soldiers. They staged their protest near the village's community center where the Dalai Lama's birthday was being celebrated.

Most Buddhists in Ladakh revere the Dalai Lama and his palace near Leh is always kept ready. According to the Times of India, the Indian Army has refused to comment on the incident. This incident of infiltration is not being considered serious but it is definitely being seen as an attempt to incite China through small antics.

Chinese troops had stopped Indian patrols in some parts of Demchok and the Demchok dispute is also included in the agenda of the ongoing military-level talks between India and China. In a tweet last Tuesday morning, PM Narendra Modi said, “Spoke on phone to His Holiness the @DalaiLama to convey greetings on his 86th birthday. We wish him a long and healthy life.” The Indian government had also pointedly not wished China on the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party. The Indian and Chinese sides remained engaged in talks that have not progressed after the mutual withdrawal in the Pangong Tso region in Ladakh.
