Earlier, on August 5, the Supreme Court had asked the petitioners to submit copies of their petitions to the central government so that they can reply whether notices should be issued in the matter.

Earlier on 5th August, many senior lawyers like Kapil Sibal, Shyam Divan, C.U. Singh, Meenakshi Arora, Rakesh Dwivedi, and Arvind Datar appeared for the petitioners who moved the court citing allegations of Pegasus espionage as a national security issue, breach of privacy, and asking the court to take cognizance of the matter. was requested.
