Paresh Rawal, a well-known actor from New Delhi, has been appointed as the head of the National School of Drama ( paresh rawal nsd chief). President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed former BJP MP from Gujarat Rawal as chairman of NSD. He has been appointed for 4 years. The post was vacant since 2017.

Paresh Rawal, who has been honored with the Padma Shri, has won several other awards along with the National Film Award and has also given many hit films.

Union Minister of State for Culture Prahlad Singh Patel has congratulated Rawal on becoming NSD Chief. He tweeted, 'Eminent artist Honorable Paresh Rawal ji has been appointed by His Excellency the President of National School of Drama. Artists and students of the country will benefit from their talent. Heartiest congratulations.'

The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organisation.
