Pakistan's ISI chief met Mullah Baradar, Taliban confirmed

Ground Report | New Delhi: Pakistan's ISI chief ; ISI Director General Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed had gone on an unannounced visit to Kabul recently. This was the first visit by a foreign official to Kabul since the Taliban took over Kabul last month.

On Monday, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed in a press conference that the ISI chief had met Mullah Baradar during his visit.

Giving further details, a Taliban spokesperson said, "The Pakistani delegation expressed concerns about the security of the Durand Line and the escape of prisoners from prisons who may spread terrorism in Pakistan.

We assured them that we will not allow any action against Pakistan from Afghanistan." "The Pakistani delegation also offered us help to run the airport, but we told them that we appreciate your offer but first let us build our system."

Earlier, there was news in Pakistani media that a Pakistani team led by the ISI chief has reached Kabul on the invitation of Taliban. But the Taliban said that this tour was proposed by Pakistan.

Earlier last week, a video was going viral on social media in which ISI chief Hameed is seen answering questions of a journalist.

When asked if he would meet the Taliban leaders, he said- "No, I am not clear yet"…

In response to another question, he says- "Don't worry, everything will be fine."

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid shared some information about the visit with journalists at a news conference in Kabul on Monday.

He said that the security delegation had come to discuss Pakistan's concerns. These included issues such as the opening of borders and the Durand Line. 

The security delegation expressed concern over the number of prisoners escaping from Afghan prisons. Pakistan believes that such people can reach Pakistan by opening the border.

In response, Zabihullah said, the Taliban assured him that "Afghan soil will not be used against any country."  Zabihullah Mujahid added that he called on Pakistan to open its borders because it was causing problems for ordinary Afghans, including traders and patients.
