Ground Report | New Delhi: Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif; Pakistan's veteran comedian Umer Sharif died in Germany, Geo News reported on Saturday. The famous artist was going to America for treatment. He was 66 years old.

Umer Sharif was admitted to a hospital in Nuremberg, Germany on Wednesday after his health deteriorated during his flight to the United States. The comedian was diagnosed with several ailments including coronary conditions.

The air ambulance carrying Umer Sharif was shifted to the hospital after the scheduled landing in Germany. Celebrities across the border are expressing their condolences for the comedian.

Screenwriter and director Khaleel-ur-Rehman Qamar expressed his grief in a heartwarming Twitter post on Saturday. "Comedy King Umer Sharif dies in a German hospital, may Allah count him among the closest to you. May Allah bless."

Indian comedian Kapil Sharma also paid his last farewell to the veteran comedian. Kapil wrote, "Goodbye may your soul rest in peace #UmerShareef." Former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar wrote, "The great Umar Sharif sahib passed away. I have no words to express my sadness and sorrow. Sharif was to travel to the United States for medical treatment via an air ambulance but was taken to a hospital in Germany after his health deteriorated.

The artist was supposed to travel to the US last week, but could not due to his deteriorating health condition. The federal and provincial governments were aiding in the medical treatment of the famous artist.

Umer Sharif was born on April 19, 1955, in an Urdu-speaking family in Liaquatabad, Karachi. The star was well-acclaimed as one of the biggest comedians in Asia.
