26 August 2021 - A suicide attack near Kabul airport kills more than a hundred people, including 13 US soldiers. A local branch of the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

27 August 2021 - US drone strike.

August 29 - US claims drone strike targeted a suspected suicide bomber, which the Pentagon said was preparing to attack Kabul airport.

7 September 2021 - The Taliban announces its new government, ending weeks of talks and speculation. Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund was made the Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was made the Deputy Prime Minister.

9 September 2021 - The first commercial international flight under the new Taliban government took off from Kabul carrying more than 100 foreigners.

September 13, 2021 - Some countries of the world have promised about one billion dollars in aid for Afghanistan.

September 14 - People protest in Kandahar.
