Ground Report | New Delhi: Shehzad Poonawalla about Modi; The BJP on Sunday made several new appointments in its national team, including Shehzad Poonawalla as National Spokesperson.

However, soon after he was appointed as National Spokesperson of BJP, a section of Twitter users shared an old tweet of Shehzad Poonawalla where he called PM Modi 'Desi Hitler'.

Twitter user wrote "Congratulations, Shehzad Poonawalla, on your appointment as the BJP's National Spokesperson. We would all like to vote for the best man but he is never a candidate."

Regarding personal details, he says, "My religion is Islam, culture is Hindu, ideology is Indian." He is also a columnist for the Indian Express. The Express described him as a writer, lawyer, petitioner for the NCM in the 2013 housing discrimination and Misbah Qadri cases.

Another user wrote "But you have to give it to @minesh_jsn for predicting it almost to the day. To @shezad_ind for having made it to the other side and becoming the spokesperson and of course to the @BJP4India for recognising him" (Shehzad Poonawalla about Modi)

In one of his article published in countercurrent, Shehzad Poonawalla has written "Well, all I can say is that you clearly read too much in-between the lines. For those who are inclined towards research, I am quoting the various sources from which I have culled out Hitler's traits. For the rest, let me just leave you with this one theme Hitler often employed while dishing out his speeches to a hypnotised Germany while campaigning for power - " Besser morgen  " which roughly means "better tomorrow" or as we in India like to say "Ache Din Aane wale hain".

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda has appointed former Maharashtra minister and senior leader Vinod Tawde as General Secretary in his team. Along with this, Rituraj Sinha of Bihar and Asha Lakra of Jharkhand have been made national secretaries, while Bharti Ghosh of West Bengal and former Congress leader Shehzad Poonawalla have been made national spokespersons.

BJP president JP Nadda made the appointments and it was announced by party general secretary Arun Singh in an official statement. Tawde, who was BJP's national secretary, was promoted to the post of general secretary to fill the vacancy that had arisen after Bhupendra Yadav became a union minister. Similarly, the BJP appointed two new national secretaries - Sinha and Asha Lakhra.
