Once a celebrity, now homeless, story of Wahab Bugti

Pakistan's Baluchistan is reeling under floods, with heavy rains taking lives. Many were left homeless as a result of the flash floods. And if reports are to be believed, singer Wahab Bugti, who rose to fame with Coke Studio's song 'Kana Yari', also lost his home due to the natural disaster.

According to online reports, Wahab Bughti has been living in deplorable conditions ever since his house was completely submerged in the flood waters. Several images appeared online in which he could be seen standing with his homeless family.

When his hit song Kana Yaari at Coke Studio, released in January, Bugti, along with fellow singers Kaifi Khalil and rapper Eva B, created waves across the country and even beyond. The song was played over 18 million times on YouTube alone. Bugti, who was then one of the faces of music in the country, is now a picture of devastation. The flood in his home province has claimed more than 216 lives.

Today, Bugti's face is once again on all social networks, but not because of his successful song, but as a victim of a flood.

In photos shared across social media, Bugti is seen wearing a shalwar kameez, holding his son as he stands in front of a collapsed wall and flooded fields in Dera Murad Jamali.

He also shared: "Xulfi and my colleagues from Coke Studio contacted me right after my brothers uploaded the photos of our displacement on social networks. This was a day ago, and since then his team has shown a immense support."

Xulfi, on behalf of CS, shared on Twitter, "We are and will continue to be with Wahab Bugti Sahib and his loved ones to help overcome the difficult situation. Rest assured, he is being given all possible support on ground."

“Wahab Bugti, who got famous after singing Kana Yaari at Coke Studio, has been living in dire conditions due to the floods in Balochistan. His mud house was destroyed and his family has been living without a home,” the tweet read, alongside photographs of Bugti and his family standing amongst the rubble left behind by the flooding.

One social media user working towards flood relief efforts in Balochistan took it upon themselves to reach out to the singer. After being able to get in contact with him, the user tweeted out a mobile number to directly donate to the singer’s JazzCash account. They also began collecting donations on his behalf after the limit on the JazzCash soon became exceeded after an outpouring of support.

Activist and speaker Muniba Mazari also detailed the situation to her followers alongside photographs. “So heartbreaking! This is brother Wahab Bugti & this is what he’s going through right now. Allah Rehm!” the Goodwill Ambassador tweeted.

Amid the devastation and debris caused by heavy rains and flooding in different parts of Pakistan, Pakistan's Federal Ministry for Climate Change has warned of more rain in the coming weeks as the federal cabinet declared a "monsoon emergency". " in the country.

At least 549 people have died in Pakistan in the past month as a result of flash floods triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rains, with rural areas of Baluchistan province among the hardest hit.

According to the NDMA, last month saw 133 percent more rain than the 30-year average, making it the wettest in three decades.
