About Jamtara

Jamtara season 1 is about a small-town (Jamtara) in Jharkhand which has a bunch young-adults scamming people of their money through 'social engineering'. The show takes a twist when a local politician wants some stakes in the lucrative business.

'Social Engineering' is psychological manipulation of people into performing actions or getting confidential information out of them. Quite like Christopher Nolan's Inception actually but more rooted.

The show stars Amit Sial, Sparsh Srivastava, Monika Panwar, Aasif Khan and more more. The web-television series is created & directed by Soumendra Padhi and written by Trishant Srivastava.

The season 1 of the show is rated 7.2 on IMDB with more than 6K votes. So, it is fair to show the was loved by the audience.

Please watch this promotional video by Netflix. The interaction is hosted by Comedian Kunal Kamra. He talks to people who have been scammed through similar 'social engineering' of their money.

Netflix in India

Netflix has been losing subscribers globally, and is yet to find its audience base in India. The streaming company has one of the most expensive monthly plans, and according to the critics hasn't produced quality content to lure the audience in India.

Although, Netflix India's first Original series Sacred Games got nomination at International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.

And, in 2020, Delhi Crime won International Emmy for Best Drama. Except these shows Netflix India is struggling to produce quality content for the audience in India, at the same time achieve global recognition.

Let us hope the upcoming series on Netflix India changes the fate for the streaming company.
