Ground Report | New Delhi: NEET PG counselling starts; The NEET PG counselling starts on January 12, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the counseling of NEET PG will start from January 12.

The Supreme Court in its interim order on January 7 had allowed the counseling for admission to NEET PG. The Supreme Court has also upheld the validity of 27% OBC reservation and 10% EWS reservation.

Mandaviya tweeted on Sunday, 'As assured by the Health Ministry to the resident doctors, the counseling of NEET PG by the Medical Counseling Committee is starting from January 12, following the order of the Supreme Court. This will give more strength to the country in the fight against Corona. My best wishes to all the candidates.

NEET PG was conducted on September 11, 2021. The result of this exam was released in the last week of September. Since then, candidates were waiting for the counseling to start for about 45,000 PG seats.

As per the decision of the Supreme Court, NEET-PG, UG counseling will be conducted with 10% EWS, 27% OBC reservation in All India Quota (AIQ) seats for this year. MCC will soon announce the NEET UG and NEET PG counseling date 2021 on the official website, mcc.nic.in. As per the latest MCC circular, in the changes introduced this year, NEET PG counseling will be conducted in four rounds.

The notice issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on July 29, 2021, states that 10% EWS, 27% OBC quota will benefit about 1500 OBC students in MBBS and 2500 OBC students in post-graduation, and around 550 EWS students every year. Around 1000 EWS students in MBBS and in Post Graduation.

MCC will start the counseling process as third-year students will pass out in four months and the burden of second and third-year resident doctors will be reduced. “NEET PG counseling should start immediately as third-year residents are going to pass out in four months. We will have 33% workforce left. With the third wave coming, we need doctors," Archana Pathak Dave, Advocate for Ford, told the Supreme Court during the hearing.

Before the start of NEET UG counseling and NEET PG counseling at mcc.nic.in. Candidates must keep important documents ready. NEET 2021 admit card, NEET 2021 scorecard with rank, class 10, and 12 mark sheet. ID proof such as Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, etc., color passport size photographs and caste certificate and PWD certificate, if applicable.
